Auscap Asset Management is pleased to announce that Tom Farmakis is the winner of the Auscap Sydney University – Mergers & Acquisitions Competition (FINC3013) for Semester 2, 2013.
Students within the Mergers and Acquisitions Course were asked to critically evaluate a particular acquisition by an ASX200 stock and whether it was in the best interests of shareholders.
Students were asked to address the following questions:
– What are the potential positives from the transaction?
– What are the possible synergies between the businesses?
– What concerns or criticisms might an investor have of the acquisition?
– Was the transaction in the best interests of shareholders?
justify the position and consider the investment risks.
Tom’s analysis was well thought out and of a high standard. We congratulate Tom on his successful submission.
We would also like to congratulate all competition participants. The standard of the submissions received was very high and they were thoroughly enjoyable to read. We thank all students for their entries.
